If I was arrested for say "Public Intoxication", and I completed pretrial diversion to where I didn't get sentenced for the crime, what would that show up as on a background check, or say if a police officer ran my name? Would anything even come back, especially since it would be first time offense?

most applications ask if you were ever arrested and if so explain. How would you answer that question? If you lie a background check could reveal it and you would be eliminated from consideration. If you answer yes then the employer will know what you are trying to avoid being revealed. That is the reason the question "Have you ever been arrested" appears on job applications.

Arrests don't show up on criminal records checks after the case is closed, regardless of how the case is resolved.
